Oolijee

Oolijee,the Navajo word for "Moon," was abandoned with his brother and sister in a field near somebody's home.  Only several weeks old and nearly starving, Oolijee and his siblings were brought to the Humane Society of the Ozarks in search of homes.  With the help of many gracious volunteers, Ollijee and his siblings went through a series of foster homes until they could find their permanent homes.  He is pictured here (far left) meeting friend Oolj for the first time shortly after finding his forever home!

Baxter

Baxter was found by a generous couple one night during a cold, harsh thunderstorm.  Weighing less than 20 pounds and estimated to be between 2-3 months old, Baxter's first outlook on life was not the brightest.  When he was brought into our office, everybody instantly fell in love with his beautiful, loving eyes!  Baxter became attached to one office worker in particlar and before we knew it Baxter had found his forever home.  He is pictured here in his new Mom's lap helping find homes for other strays at the Humane Society office.

Hope

We first became aware of Hope when a good samaritan called about a potential neglect situation in Winlow, AR.  Armed with 2 four-wheel drive vehicles, the Humane Society workers and volunteers traveled down a mountainside to a remote location in order to rescue the abandoned animals.  The home had been abandoned for nearly a month, leaving only sticks and gravel for the animals to eat.  Hope and another dog were rescued from the sight, but Hope was the only one to survive the weeks of malnutrition.  Having successfully overcome heartworm treatment and abandonment, we felt that "Hope" was the only suitable name for this little fighter!  The Humane Society was able to provide Hope with all of her necessary medical care and she has since been adopted by a great family who loves her dearly.
